Commercialization Center
The Advanced Science & Technology Commercialization Center, better known as ASTeCC, is the University of Kentucky's showplace for cross-disciplinary research programs with strong commerical potential and new business startups. UK faculty, staff and students also use ASTeCC, located at the heart of campus, as a hub for intellectual property and technology commercialization activities.
The $17 million, 80,000-square-foot ASTeCC building opened its doors in 1994. The project was funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration and the Small Business Administration. Since 1994 more than 30 companies have "graduated" from ASTeCC. more »
ASTeCC is UK's Technology Commercialization Center
UK has a strong patent portfolio in drug development and drug design, plant biotech, equine health, and materials for medical implants, drug delivery systems, and medical devices. Currently, UK has 300 active patents and more than 130 active licenses. more »

ASTeCC provides lab space and support resources for companies that have licensed UK intellectual property or have a connection to UK faculty or staff. more »

Agricultural Technologies Commercialization Center
Housed in the Kentucky Tobacco Research and Development Center (KTRDC) building on the UK campus, Agricultural Technologies Commercialization Center (AgTeCC) offers an optimal laboratory environment for start-up and emerging companies conducting research on crop-based agriculture. AgTeCC is fully equipped for plant biotechnology research and provides access to plant-growth and tissue-culture resources and services within the KTRDC. more »
