LEXINGTON, Ky. Jan. 24, 2008 − Fifty five early-stage companies in the Lexington area reported an 82% increase in funding and 35% growth in jobs for 2007 as part of an annual survey conducted by the Lexington Venture Club. Survey results and individual company achievements will be featured this evening at the annual event celebrating Bluegrass Region entrepreneurs and early-stage companies.

One of the world’s fastest growing technology companies has moved 144 Lexington-based employees to its new international headquarters at Coldstream. It was announced in late January that the 10-year-old Lexington company will become part of the Hewlett-Packard Company. Exstream Software was founded in Lexington by UK alumnus Davis Marksbury, who now serves as company chairman.

DANBURY, Conn. Jan. 7, 2008 − ATMI Inc. (Nasdaq:ATMI) today announced it has acquired LevTech Inc., a market-leading provider of disposable mixing technologies to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. LevTech is located at UK's Coldstream Research Campus and is based on research by former UK physics professor Alex Terentiev.

Edward Hall, George Smith, Alexander Rabchevsky, and Patrick Sullivan in UK's Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Center are developing effective treatments for the estimated 247,000 Amercians currently living with spinal cord injuries.
