Business Development

The Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship is the nexus for business development at the University of Kentucky.

The Von Allmen Center's team, lead by Dean Harvey, workswith faculty, clinicians, staff and students on campus who want to start a business based on their research and ideas. They provide ongoing support and services such as intellectual property and technology assessment, assistance with business plans and obtaining funding, marketing strategies, and growth planning.

Pat Powell, director of the UK/Lexington Innovation and Commercialization Center, is also part of the Von Allmen Center team. Powell focuses on seed and early stage high tech and high growth business projects from both the Lexington community and the UK campus.

The Von Allmen Center is part of the national U.S. Department of Commerce EDA University Center Economic Development Partnership.

UK partners with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and Commerce Lexington in the Bluegrass Business Development Partnership (BBDP) through the business development team in the Office for Commercialization & Economic Development. The BBDP links entrepreneurs and businesses with a team of economic development specialists in one convenient location.

Business Development Programs
